Precious Diamonds

You are a precious diamond that God has created for this time, in this place.  Like a diamond, your value comes from the fact that you have been uniquely created by God.  Like a diamond God has allowed the pressures of the environment where you were nurtured and raised, where you were educated, where you work to shape each unique facet that makes you who you are.  The spiritual gifts and talents that God has given you, your infirmities and joys permeate every facet of your life.  Together they make each facet of who you are uniquely reflect God’s light and love in this world.  This is what makes you glisten and shine wherever you are, whoever you are with, and in everything that you do. 

You may not realize this, but there are many people who recognize that you are a precious diamond.  Every time they see you, and spend time with you, they rejoice over what God has created – they marvel at this beautiful diamond.  There are many others who would not have seen God’s light or love today, if you had not crossed their path.  They may not have told you this, but one day when you get to Heaven, you will hear their stories.

How will you handle the precious diamonds that God has entrusted you with?

There are other people out there, who don’t like the way God has shaped the facets of the diamond that is you.  They want to chisel parts away from the diamond that you are, so that you are smooth and round.  Other people want to chisel you into their shape, they want every diamond to be the same size, and shape as they are.   There are others who will try to convince you that you have no value because you don’t fit in their round hole, or because you aren’t the same size and shape they are. 

You might also run into some people who want to split you apart.  Some people may highly value one facet of who you are and want to take and split off that facet for themselves, not realizing that they will just be left with shattered shards.  Others will want to split you in half.  These people just want to use your talents to build their empire, or use your spiritual gifts to further their religious organization.  They leave what is left  for you to use to eke out a living. When you are no longer valuable to them they cast you out like a useless rock. 

These people sing the siren song of love, they claim to speak the truth, but all you see as they approach are the chisels, the axes, and the grinders trying to reshape you into something they think is better than what God has created.  Do not be afraid of them! – God is your shepherd, your shield and your defender.  Do not let their noise drown out the soft voices of the many who appreciate you – a unique precious diamond!

God delights over you as each facet of your life so wonderfully reflects His glory.  God rejoices over you! He sees his love sparkling as you use your spiritual gifts and talents as a parent, a child, a sibling, a spouse, a worker and a worshipper.  You are his priceless treasure! God loves you!  He is the One who created you, and He speaks words of truth to you.  He is the one who has allowed you to be shaped into this beautiful diamond.  Yes  there will be times when in love will approach with his refining fire – not to destroy you, but to polish you and to remove impurities so that you may you shine even brighter. 

As His special diamond, remember where your future is – remember your inheritance that is being preserved for you in a place where nothing on this earth can destroy it.  When you get to glory He will take you and place you in His crown.  Then you will see what you believe by faith today – that in His crown there is exactly one setting that has been prepared for the beautiful, unique diamond that is you.
